Yeah, I saw that too and I agree that it's a cat. I can't believe he has a cat! He should have a big dog or something. Of course, the idea of Jack having a pet is fairly unsettling. That would make him like human or something. :D

I know! I was so surprised! I was like, WHAT! old Dude has a cat!?
what's really surprising is the fact that Jack seems like the type to have a perfect environment no matter where he is, everything in place, everything orderly and neat, and cats are pretty neat, yeah, but they shed and if not declawed, they scratch furniture. of course, that's easily rectified if you get a scratching post or something. i suppose CAT fits him better than a dog because dogs are messy. they lick everything and they shed way worse than cats and they like to roll around in mud and puddles and they require much more maintenance and attention. I am a dog person myself (I have the best dog in the world!) but I think Jack is more cat person than dog person. cats are mellow like him, they are anti-social like him, lol. :P

I wonder what his cat's name is!! Do you think he gave his cat a physics name? like Muon or Gluon? or something like that? :D

I think the cat's name might be something shocking like "Fluffy" or "Mr. Buttons" or something. It shows Jack's sensitive side. :D

A lot of people theorize that Jack is feeding a stray cat. Stray cats do have a way of "adopting" people. I loved the shoutout to cat lovers! :D

Maybe the cat's name is Mozart! He likes Mozart, I think. His Season3 IM screen name had Mozart in it, right? Irina's also had to do with music, but I forgot what composer she chose... I just remember they were posing as music lovers on Instant Messaging just in case there were any terrorists targeting a certain two spies eying the network! ;)

i see jack as more of a cat person...however i don't think he went to the pet store and got a cat...that's def. not his style...it's got to be a stray

He is so a cat person! What’s funny is I imagined him with a cat and then when I saw the episode I was like "NO WAY, Jack has a cat... WOW"

It could have been Syd's from when she was a teenager. Cats can live up to 15-16 years, if Syd got it when she was between 15 and 17 or something than it could be possible. Or maybe he took it from a little girl with a box of free kittens? who knows.

I agree, the stray cat theory seems very much Jack's style. He obviously wouldn't take time to go shopping for a pet. but he would totally leave food and water out for a random stray. maybe that's why the food was by the open window?

I think that Jack is totally a closet crazy cat lady who talks to it and everything.

Yes, the cat has become his confidant - the one person he can confide his secrets and concerns and he won't be judged for it! Perhaps he feeds more than one stray and he calls them his babies. And when children have to pass his door, they run because they're afraid of the crazy cat man and his babies.

Greetings,
I also agree on a cat. My friends think I am very much like him and I would be a cat person provided I didn't have severe allergies to them.

I'll bet Jack specifically chose to live in a building that has a no-child policy, though! :P
